A precision rifle stock must do three things: hold the action rigidly (no flex under recoil), allow adjustable length of pull and cheek height, and provide consistent purchase points for forend bag riding and rear bag squeeze.
Aluminum chassis (MDT, MPA, KRG, Foundation) have largely replaced traditional stocks at the top end of precision competition. They’re heavier but offer better adjustability, no temperature warping, and a rigid action interface.
