The shooter behind the work
Damnosus is the public-facing brand of a practical precision-shooting practice built around one focused idea: rifle builds that support taking any caliber past their "effective" range. There are many who wish to assign a yardage distance to a medium, long, or extreme long range categorization, and there is nothing wrong with doing so. But there is a level of fun and sport that you find for 800 yards with a .223 Remington that you might not find until you're past a mile or two with a .416 Barrett. I call this Relative Long Range, or RLR for short.
What I work on
Precision rifle builds, load development, component evaluation, ballistic data collection, and stretching a given caliber to its limits - for hand loads, premium match grade ammo, and for the cheap stuff. There's nothing more fun to me than shooting the cheap stuff to a fun distance, with okay groups, so you really get a chance to let drop and wind come into play. I mostly build heavy, long-barreled bolt-action rifles with great glass so you can see your own splashes.
What this site is
Damnosus is currently a blog, and should soon feature video content that dovetails into the same concepts. As I work toward my FFL, I'll keep you posted and one day soon, we will have rifles for sale, build services, and other exciting things! Our newsletter is Makin' Brass with Damnosus , subscribe on the homepage.
What it isn't
We're not here to poo-poo any brands or point out conflicts of interest in other content creators. You won't see much semi-auto content, and we aren't sponsored by anyone at this time. I try to write content that others may find helpful in their journeys to enjoy ELR, F-Class, PRS, or any other discipline they may follow.
