Single-stage presses do one operation per pull of the handle. They’re slow but precise, so most precision shooters use a single-stage for everything. Turret presses rotate between dies without breaking down the setup. Progressive presses crank out finished ammo on every stroke, which suits high-volume pistol loading more than rifle precision work.

For rifle handloads under 500 rounds a month, a quality single-stage like the Forster Co-Ax or Redding T-7 is enough press to make match-grade ammunition.
