A standard rifle die set has a full-length sizer (resizes the case, removes the spent primer) and a bullet seater. Many precision shooters add a neck-sizing die (resizes only the neck, leaving the case body fire-formed to the chamber) or a body die (resizes everything but the neck).

Premium die makers (Redding, Forster, Whidden) machine to tighter tolerances than budget brands and produce more concentric ammunition. Worth the upgrade for distance work.
