Range Finder
Also: Laser rangefinder · LRF
An optical device that measures the exact distance to a target using laser time-of-flight. Standard equipment for precision rifle work at unknown distances.
Modern laser rangefinders return accurate distances to one yard at 1,500+ yards on reflective targets, and to 1,000 yards on most natural surfaces. Premium units (Sig Kilo, Leica, Vortex Razor) integrate atmospheric sensors and ballistic calculators that produce a complete firing solution on a single button press.
For competition, accuracy and speed both matter. A four-second range read on the timer can be the difference between a stage hit and a time-out.
