Dry Fire
Pulling the trigger on an unloaded rifle to practice trigger management, sight picture, and breath control without the cost or recoil of live ammo.
Dry fire is one of the most productive precision drills you can do. Done well, it isolates the trigger pull from the bang. You can see if your reticle moves at break, learn to ride out the natural sway, and groove a consistent body position.
Modern bolt actions and most centerfires are safe to dry fire. Some rimfires and pre-WWII rifles can damage the firing pin without a snap cap. Check your specific model before you start dry firing it.
