Accurize
To upgrade a factory rifle's components and fitment, such as bedding, barrel, and trigger, until it groups closer to the ceiling of its cartridge.
Accurizing is the gunsmith verb for “make this rifle shoot better than the factory left it.” Common steps: glass-bedding the action, free-floating the barrel, fitting a match trigger, lapping the lugs, and squaring the receiver face.
A $1,000 rifle that’s been honestly accurized can outshoot a $4,000 factory rifle that’s been left stock. Most of long-range precision is small things stacked up, and accurizing is where the stack starts.
