Match Grade
A claim of tighter tolerances than standard production. The label carries weight only when a published spec or a real track record stands behind it.
Match-grade ammunition typically means hand-weighed charges, sorted brass, and a quality bullet. Federal Gold Medal Match, Hornady ELD-Match, and Black Hills Mk248 are the well-known names. Pressures and velocities are tighter than bulk ammo by design.
The words carry the most weight when a spec or a track record stands behind them. For a rifle barrel, look for the manufacturer’s chamber drawings or an accuracy guarantee, which tell you the match-grade claim rests on something you can measure.
