Integral Suppressor
A suppressor built as a permanent part of the barrel assembly rather than a separate unit threaded onto the muzzle of a finished barrel.
An integral suppressor is a silencer constructed around or over the barrel as a single, permanent unit, rather than a can that threads onto the muzzle. The baffle stack often surrounds a ported barrel section, so the overall package can be shorter than a standard barrel paired with a muzzle-mounted suppressor of the same performance.
Because it is engineered with the barrel, an integral design can bleed gas through ports to drop velocity into the subsonic range, taming the supersonic crack on cartridges meant to run quiet. The tradeoff is that it is not a removable muzzle device; the suppressor and barrel are treated as one assembly for cleaning, service, and the legal paperwork that governs suppressors.
