Bore Guide
A sleeve that fits the action and aligns the cleaning rod with the bore axis while keeping solvent out of the trigger and magazine.
A bore guide is a close-fitting tube that slides into the chamber end of the action, usually after the bolt is removed, and holds a cleaning-rod on the centerline of the barrel. By keeping the rod from flexing against the chamber walls and the throat, it prevents the rod from wearing the very surfaces that control how a bullet enters the rifling. That throat region is delicate and irreplaceable, so guarding it during cleaning is the guide’s main job.
A bore guide also acts as a seal at the rear of the chamber. It directs solvent down the bore instead of letting it run back into the trigger group, magazine well, or bedding, where chemicals can do harm over time. Because it standardizes rod entry every time, a bore guide protects both the throat and the crown and makes the whole cleaning process repeatable rather than haphazard.
